Northern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) and American beautyberry (Callicarpa americana)

8x10 print

The northern mockingbird is very close to my heart because they were the first species I worked with in the field as an undergraduate student. Like many insectivorous birds, Northern mockingbirds will take advantage of native fruiting plants like beautyberry, especially in the winter when insects are harder to come by.
