Northern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) and American beautyberry (Callicarpa americana)
Original work is a watercolor and gouache painting. Prints are 8x10 printed on 8.5 x 11", 80-pound linen paper.
Artist notes: My first experience working in the field was on a long-term ecological study on urban habitat use by mockingbirds. Working with birds on campus was really eye-opening -- it really made me more aware of all the amazing biodiversity and ecolgocial drama unfolding all around me. Northern beautyberry is a native shrub to the Sourthern US, and is an important food source for many birds including nothern mockingbirds.
