Double-crested Cormorants are dark water birds with snaky necks, but up-close they’re quite colorful—with orange-yellow skin on their face and throat and striking aquamarine eyes. This painting is a close up of a juvenile since they are browner overall than the adults and based off of a photo taken by Cathy Bester.
